Greg has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has worked with both businesses and individuals in a variety of financial areas including comprehensive financial planning, employee benefits, estate planning and business owner planning, and brings unique insight to the financial planning needs of Lincoln Financial Advisors/Sagemark Consulting financial planners and their clients.
He began his career at Connecticut Mutual (now Mass Mutual) in Hartford, Connecticut, one of the largest life insurance companies in the United States. He progressed to the position of Associate Director where he was instrumental in the development and implementation of the corporate financial planning process. It was in this position that Greg acquired intimate knowledge of the special needs of businesses and business owners.
In 1983, he brought his business planning expertise to Kansas City at Cohen & Curtis, an independent retirement and insurance planning firm. In this role, he provided the principals of the company with product analysis, pension plan administration and product purchase implementation.
At Boeger Financial Group and The Hays Group (formerly Gilbert-Magill Co.), he worked with executives, business owners and professionals to develop and implement their financial, business and estate plans. This was accomplished through the implementation of life insurance, disability income insurance, annuity and investment plans.
In 1995, he established his own financial services firm. His services included the design and implementation of financial, insurance and investment programs to help meet the specific needs of business owners, professionals and executives. In addition, he provided auditing services to organizations in which he reviewed their business, estate and employee benefit plans.
Prior to joining Lincoln Financial Advisors/Sagemark Consulting, Greg spent five years at BMA Financial Services, Inc. (BMAFS). He was the Vice President and Senior Financial Consultant in charge of the Advisory Services business unit. In this capacity, he provided fee-only comprehensive financial planning services to affluent individuals and supervised the department functions. The minimum planning fee was $10,000. These services were marketed by him to BMAFS clients and through strategic alliances with other brokerage firms such as Paine Webber, Dain Rauscher and Soloman Smith Barney. He was also responsible for the design, implementation and management of the firm's wrap fee programs. He also supervised and directed the staff in their advanced sales support of BMFA representatives. BMA's new owners shut down the entire Broker-dealer and Advisory Services unit in early 2002.
Throughout his career, Greg continually recognized the important role education plays in the industry. He graduated from a Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations by the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Greg also has the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification which is administered and awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.
Greg maintains a strong commitment to the local business community. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Lenexa, Kansas Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. In his free time, he enjoys endurance running and bicycling as well as camping, hiking and fishing.
